Frequently asked questions
About getting food help in Florida, and about Feeding America Florida itself.
Where do I apply for SNAP in Florida?
Apply online at MyACCESS (Florida Department of Children and Families), by mail, or in person. Our step-by-step SNAP guide covers documents, interviews, and timelines.
Are food pantries in Florida free?
Yes. Community food pantries are free. Most ask only your name and household size; many require no documents at all. You do not need SNAP, ID, or a referral to use one. Find a pantry near you.
I am undocumented — is it safe to use a pantry?
Yes. Community pantries do not ask about immigration status. WIC and school meals are also open regardless of status, and WIC is not considered in public-charge decisions.
How do I find WIC clinics in Florida?
Use our search with the “WIC clinics” filter, or see the Florida WIC guide for eligibility and the state appointment line.
Are there free meals for kids in Florida?
Yes — school breakfast and lunch during the year, plus USDA summer meal sites where any child 18 or under eats free, no paperwork. Search them with the “Summer meals” filter on our search.
What is Feeding America Florida?
A Florida-focused 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 93-3176598) and an affiliate of Feed America (EIN 92-1761881). We keep the free Florida food-resource directory verified and support state-attributed giving. More on About.
How is Feeding America Florida related to Feed America?
Feed America (EIN 92-1761881, feedam.org) is the parent: it operates the national directory and platform. Feeding America Florida is its Florida affiliate, so gifts and partnerships can be attributed at the state level. Each entity is separately registered with the IRS — see Disclosures.
Is Feeding America Florida a real 501(c)(3)? Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Verify EIN 93-3176598 at IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search, Candid, ProPublica, or Charity Navigator — all linked on Verifications. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Is Feeding America Florida a food bank?
No. Food banks warehouse and distribute food to local agencies. We run the free directory that helps people find pantries, SNAP offices, WIC clinics, and meal programs — and we list every verified resource on equal terms, with no paid placements.
Does it cost anything to be listed or to search?
No. Searching is free with no login. Listing is free for legitimate food-assistance providers — no organization can pay to appear or rank higher. Corrections and additions go through the parent platform at feedam.org/partner.
I need food right now in Florida — what do I do?
Search by your ZIP code and call the nearest pantry before you go (hours change). If you cannot search online, dial 2-1-1 — 211 Florida answers around the clock. For tonight: many communities also have soup kitchens serving meals with no questions asked.
How do I donate?
Online via our donate page (processed by parent Feed America with a Florida designation) or directly to the state entity by check — payee “Feeding America Florida”, EIN 93-3176598 in the memo.
